History: During a fateful childhood visit to Haly's Circus, young Tim Drake marveled at the unique acrobatics of "The Flying Garysons." Wonder turned to horror as he watched the adult Garysons plunge to their death. His terror was eased by the sudden appearance of Batman, who swept on to comfort the now-orphaned Dick Garyson.

Years later, Tim's curiosity about his childhood hero got the better of him. Demonstrating uncanny detective skills, Tim eventually discovered Batman's secret identity and learned that Jason Todd, the second Robin, had recently been killed by the Joker.

Convinced that Batman needed a new Robin, Tim offered his services in a surprise visit to Wayne Manor. Batman put Tim through months of rigorous training before allowing him to make his debut as Robin. It was a role Tim excelled at, his only dilemma at first being how to balance his roles of hero and ordinary teen.

When Jack Drake, Tim's father, discovered his Robin identity, Tim hung up the cape to respect his father's wishes. His girlfriend, Stephanie Brown, took advantage of his absence and became Robin. Though her tenure was short-lived, it would be the catalyst for her initiating and ultimately dying in the gang wars that brought Tim back into the costume. A few days later, Tim would suffer an even greater loss when his father was killed by the villain known as Captain Boomerang.

His life irrevocably altered, Tim has relocated to Blüdhaven while his stepmother recuperates from a nervous breakdown. He has vowed not to let his recent personal tragedies diminish his hope and make him like Batman, but how long he can restrain his darker emotions remains to be seen.
