Warner Bros. has cast two-time Academy Award nominee Viola Davis to play Amanda Waller in their big screen comic book adaptation on ‘Suicide Squad,’ reports Latino-Review.
Amanda “The Wall” Waller is a hardline top-ranking U.S. Government agent involved in clandestine operations. Despite her non-threatening physical appearance, she is almost
universally feared as one of the most ruthless women in espionage and politics. She created and runs the Suicide Squad, a team of super-villains running missions for the
government in exchange for reduced prison sentences; she has also been involved with Agency.
Oprah Winfrey and Octavia Spencer were reported

earlier as contenders for the role.
Interesting enough, Angela Bassett played the role in Warner Bros.’ “Green Lantern,” but the character was a scientist in the film.
Davis currently stars in the Shonda Rhimes TV series ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ and received a Golden Globes nomination for Best Actress in a TV drama series for her performance.
She was last seen in ‘The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby’ and the James Brown biopic ‘Get On Up.’
